ABOUT THE FILM

Vlogger Jareth Grass is sucked into a topsy-turvy magical adventure after he's magically whisked away to the home of his estranged uncle Dr. Spiderwack.  There he discovers an exhaustive compendium of magical urban beasts created by his uncle.

Ever since the evil faerie hunter Karnov started hunting and capturing their kind in the wild, magical creatures have moved into cities and adapted to better blend into the busy and dangerous landscape of urban life. Leprechauns are now Leprecon-Artists, Hobgoblins are Snobgoblins, Mermen are Mermons, Changelings are Spare-Changelings, and House Brownies are House Lefties. We also find Internet trolls, Litter Sprites and Unihorns.

Our epic fantasy film parody combines urban settings with some of your favorite magical films and books, such as THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES, FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM, HARRY POTTER, DARK CRYSTAL, LABYRINTH and more.

PRODUCTION TEAM

Filming began in Fall 2018 in and around South Bend, Indiana. Much was filmed in Summer 2019 and continued into Summers 2020 and 2021. It is co-written/co-directed by the award-winning filmmaking team of Tim Richardson and Michael Kouroubetes, the minds behind VULASSIC PARK, THE DORK OF THE RINGS, HARVEY PUTTER and THE THROBBIT, which have screened at scores of film festivals and fantasy/pop culture conventions around the world. Award-winning costume designer Janice Bennett and creature/puppet creator Andy Swisher each return for their fifth feature film with Richardson Productions.

Many veteran cast and crew are returning, including Bryce Cone (Jareth), Paisley Blackburn (Luma Lumpgood), Rodney Sciba (Karnov/Francis), Daniel Grey (Skewt Newmander), Tim Richardson (Internet Troll/Shinoh), and Kevin McInerney (Dr. Spiderwack) London based actor Kiran Shah (STAR WARS, LORD OF THE RINGS, NARNIA) will act for us again and serve as an Associate Producer. Kiran starred in our film HARVEY PUTTER and has been a producer on several of our films.

CROWDFUNDING

We are raising at least $6,000 for the creation of the feature film DR. SPIDERWACK’S MIND-BOGGLING COMPENDIUM OF FANTASTIC URBAN BEASTS. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt7982606/)

All money will go towards various needs of the production, including costumes, props, puppets, locations, craft service, equipment, supplies, and marketing. Most of the actors and crew are volunteers. Fortunately, we already own a lot of equipment and have incredible resources from producing films for over 20 years.

SUPPORTER REWARDS

We have successfully raised funds via crowdfunding to finance our last two feature films VULASSIC PARK and THE THROBBIT and all our supporters have been extremely satisfied with the finished film product and their rewards. Our previous films have been self-financed and assisted by producers.

We have levels from $10 up to $750. Rewards may include: a digital download of the film, signed DVD, signed poster, art and props from the film, premiere passes, and producer credits.

Because we crowdfund through our own website (rather than Kickstarter, IndieGoGo or GoFundMe) we can put a lot more of every dollar into the movie, without sharing those service fees of 10-20%.
